Welcome to ChallengHers

Welcome to ChallengHers, a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring and mentoring young girls to get involved in STEM-related competitions.

Why?

Currently, women only make up 28% of the workforce in STEM, and only 15% of engineers are women, a pressing disparity. We hope to change that, as increased representation of women allows for new diversities of perspectives. From a young age, I often noticed that I would be one of the only girls in my computer science classes, robotics team, or other STEM-related activities.

Why Competitions?

Competitions are a great way for students to express skills such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, leadership, and innovation. These skills are vital to applying them to areas later on, in ways that can make tangible impacts on the future. They also provide opportunities for students to take risks, and provide unique experiences unlike anything else. By increasing this representation in competitions, girls can feel inspired and welcomed by having peers and role models that are similar to them.

Mission

By providing resources and mentoring young girls, we strive to empower girls to pursue their STEM interests by increasing their participation in STEM competitions.

What We’re Doing:

Firstly, we hope to get more girls to know these competitions exist, and what they can benefit from them(creativity, iteration, collaboration, etc). We’re doing this by providing different resources on competitions, such as providing suggestions on what competitions to participate in based on interests, age, and more. Not only that but also technical resources, such as lessons on coding, app design, and more.

In the future, we hope to host live classes with mentors guiding students on their competition projects, starting from the technical lessons to help with submitting applications.
